Importance of Lubricants 

General lubricants are composed of two parts: base oil and additive, base oil mainly uses mineral oil, additives include metal cleaner, antioxidant, anti-corrosion agent, amorphous dispersant and viscosity index modifier and so on.

Certain chemicals with special functions added to lubricating oils can improve oil quality, make pistons and combustion chambers cleaner, less buildup in lubrication paths and filters, reduce wear on generator set spare parts, extend the life of generator sets and save fuel.

Poor quality lubricants damage generator parts and cause subtle and permanent damage to the units. When the diesel generator set is in a static state for a long time, the lubricating oil will have complex chemical and physical changes with different block materials, the lubrication effect of the oil will be greatly affected, oil selection and replacement must be taken seriously.

Generator lubricants must be kept clean in a timely manner to prevent water from entering the engine oil. When changing oil of different brands or grades, the lubrication system must be cleaned before adding new oil. The electric unit must select the appropriate viscosity of the lubricating oil, the performance level of the lubricating oil is the level of additive to the oil, the protective role in the lubricating oil is mainly an additive, the additive will gradually be consumed over time, only selecting a sufficient grade of oil can ensure the lubricating effect of the oil.

During operation of the generator unit, lubricants will become contaminated and additives will be gradually consumed. Timely replacement of generator lubricants, replacement of filters and other vulnerable elements can ensure continuous operation of generators and extend the life of generators.
